Rosemont College is sharing a fun and creative funding opportunity for students: the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship, offered through UNIGO. This $2,000 award invites applicants to imagine a campus overrun by zombies and explain how they would survive with wit, strategy, and a clear plan.
If you have ever watched The Walking Dead and wondered what you would do in a real outbreak, this scholarship turns that imagination into a chance to support your education.
About the Scholarship
The Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship challenges students to respond to a short creative prompt. Applicants must submit an online written response of 250 words or less to the following scenario: Imagine that your high school or college has been overrun with zombies. Your math professor, the cafeteria ladies, and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead. Flesh out a plan to avoid the zombies, including where you’d hide and the top-five things you’d bring to stay alive.
The committee wants to see your survival tactics: where you would hide on campus and which five essential items you would bring to stay alive.
Award Amount and Deadline
One successful applicant will receive $2,000 toward their college education. The application deadline is October 31, 2026, and the winner will be notified by email or phone on or around January 31, 2027.
Because the essay is short and creative, this is a manageable opportunity for busy students who want to compete for meaningful financial support without a lengthy application process.
Applicants for the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship must meet the following requirements:
- Be a legal U.S. resident
- Be a resident of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia
- Be a U.S. student
Students who meet these criteria and enjoy creative writing, storytelling, or problem-solving are especially well positioned to apply.
How to Apply
Interested students should prepare a focused 250-word-or-less response that clearly outlines a survival plan, a hiding place, and five essential items. Submit the application online through UNIGO before the October 31, 2026, deadline.
