Rosemont College successfully hosted a beautiful and insightful program titled, Women in Glass: The Saints of Rosemont Chapel on January 28, 2026. Presented by the Cultural Heritage Gallery and led by Professor Joanne Campbell, the event offered an enriching exploration of the stunning stained glass windows in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception and the remarkable women they honor.

The program blended art, history, spirituality, music and community reflection, making it a memorable evening for all who attended.

Highlights of the Women in Glass Event

The event began in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, where guests enjoyed a thoughtful discussions about the sacred women depicted in the chapel’s stained glass. A special focus was placed on St. Brigid of Kildare and her powerful influence.

The evening included a softly glowing luminary walkway between the chapel and Main Building acknowledging a “Return of the Light”. The luminaries mark the gradual return of daylight following the winter solstice.

Professor Carla Spataro opened the program with a beautiful vocal performance honoring the sainted women. Michelle Moravec, PhD offered opening reflections including the story of Mother Mary Ignatius Carroll, “The Builder” and her role in developing the chapel as did Sr. Margaret Doyle SHCJ who shared the history and stories behind the selection and creation of each of the glass windows and the saints they depict. Guests then moved to the Main Building for continued discussion and deeper reflection with a distinguished group of speakers, including:

• Rosemont student Pearl Smith

The presentations explored who created the windows, the artistic techniques used, the meaning behind the imagery, and their deep connection to Rosemont’s mission and the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.

Events like Women in Glass highlight what makes Rosemont College truly special, the thoughtful integration of art, history, and mission. The Cultural Heritage Gallery did an outstanding job creating a space for reflection, learning, and community connection.
