Severe Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in response to a potentially historic weather event affecting the Mid Atlantic region. The Rosemont College Department of Public Safety continues to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates as needed.
In light of the Winter Storm Warning, Rosemont College will suspend all in person instruction on Monday, February 23, 2026. Only essential personnel should report to campus during this time. Rosemont College prioritizes the safety and well being of students, faculty, and staff. Campus will reopen Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11:00am.

A potentially historic winter storm is affecting eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and the Eastern Shore of Maryland through Monday, February 23.
Current local alerts and declarations include:
- Lower Merion Township has declared a snow emergency from Noon Sunday, February 22, 2026 through Monday, February 23, 2026 at 5 pm
- Montgomery County has issued a Code Blue through February 24, 2026
- Montgomery County is closed on Monday, February 23, 2026
- Bucks County has declared a snow emergency and activated its Emergency Operations Center
- Chester County is closed on Monday, February 23, 2026
- Delaware County issues a winter weather alert.
- The City of Philadelphia has declared a snow emergency
- Archdiocese of Philadelphia schools shift to flexible instruction.
- The School District of Philadelphia will operate virtually

Watches and Warnings
• Winter Storm Warning in effect for southeastern Pennsylvania including 19010
• Blizzard Warning along Atlantic coastal New Jersey and Delaware
• Coastal Flood Watch for vulnerable tidal regions
• Marine advisories and high wind conditions across the region
Primary Impacts
Forecasters classify this system as Category 4 Major for heavy snow potential in eastern and southeastern areas. Snow will spread across the region Sunday morning and continue throughout the day. Limited daytime accumulation may occur at first due to marginal surface temperatures.
Heavier snowfall is expected Sunday evening through Monday morning. Rates may reach one to two inches per hour or higher. Strong northeast winds will produce gusts up to 55 miles per hour along the coast and 40 miles per hour inland. Blowing and drifting snow will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less in some areas.
Travel conditions may become life threatening Sunday night into Monday morning. Moderate coastal flooding may occur during high tide cycles.

SEPTA Status
Sunday, February 22: SEPTA will run service for as long as it is safe to do so. Service disruptions are likely as conditions worsen. Service may be suspended if necessary.
Monday, February 23: Any suspended service will remain suspended until conditions improve. If service resumes, it will operate on a normal weekday schedule. Restoration will occur line by line.
What This Means for the Rosemont Community
Montgomery County is currently under a Code Blue declaration. A Code Blue in Montgomery County, PA, is issued when winter conditions pose a serious risk of harm or death to individuals without shelter—typically when temperatures or wind chills are at or below 32°F for two or more consecutive hours. During these periods, extreme cold exposure can quickly become life threatening.
Rosemont College encourages everyone to monitor local weather reports. Please allow extra travel time when commuting. Use caution on sidewalks parking areas and campus roads. Report any hazardous conditions to campus staff if noticed.
