Kaileigh Whalen– the talented centerfielder and prodigious hitter who was a three-year starter for the Rosemont softball program- was named to the first team All-Colonial States Athletic Conference softball squad in voting conducted by league coaches and announced on Wednesday morning.
Whalen is the first Rosemont player in history to earn first team honors and the first one to earn any kind of recognition on an All-CSAC team since shortstop Gianna Pedone was named to the honorable mention squad at the conclusion of the 2013 season.
This season, Whalen lead the Ravens in batting average (.381), On Base/Slugging Percentage (.951), runs (38) and tied for the lead in hits (48) and total bases (63). For her career, Whalen finished with 98 hits, third most in school history.
Samantha DeFrancisco was named the Ravens sportsmanship award winner. The freshman shortstop tied Whalen for the team lead in hits with 48 while posting a .361 average and .418 on-base percentage from the leadoff spot.
