Rosemont College students have a timely career opportunity to build essential job search skills and connect with employers. On Thursday, September 18 from 4:30 to 6:00pm, the Main Line Chamber Talent and Education Network will host its first virtual professional development event of the academic year. This interactive session focuses on creating resumes and cover letters that get noticed.
The event, titled Opportunity Knocks: Building a Resume and Cover Letter That Gets You Noticed, offers practical strategies from real world professionals. Rather than hearing general advice, students will gain insight directly from employers who make hiring decisions.
Learn What Employers Want to See
Employers will explain what they look for when reviewing resumes and cover letters. They will cover how to:
- Organize your resume to highlight your strengths
- Customize cover letters for specific roles
- Use strong, clear language to showcase your experience
- Avoid common mistakes that can hurt your application
Students will walk away with tools they can use immediately for internships, part time roles, and full time careers.
Build Connections Through Live Conversations
After the main panel, participants can enter virtual breakout rooms. These smaller group settings create space for conversations with employers and peers. In addition to gaining feedback, students can ask questions and grow their professional network.
Furthermore, this part of the event gives students a chance to practice real time communication in a supportive environment. These skills are just as valuable as a strong resume.
How to Register
To attend this career opportunity, students should email Talent and Education Network Consultant, Lissa Hilsee at [email protected]. Registration is free, but space may be limited, so early sign up is recommended.
