Rosemont College’s Writer’s Studio Summer Retreat is excited to offer a dynamic and supportive workshop with acclaimed writer and editor Trish Rodriguez. The Trish Rodriguez Weekend, Flash Fiction takes place July 10–12, 2026. This workshop focuses on the art of writing small stories that pack a powerful punch.

What to Expect in the Trish Rodriguez Weekend
This engaging flash fiction workshop will explore the craft of short-short fiction. Participants will read, write, and discuss compelling micro and flash stories, learning what makes them work and what is currently being published in the genre. The supportive, encouraging environment will give writers the opportunity to:
- Generate new ideas and restart creative habits
- Receive constructive feedback on their work
- Experiment with form, voice, and structure
- Dive deep into the world of very short fiction
Furthermore, the weekend promises to be both productive and inspiring, helping writers of all levels gain confidence and momentum in their craft.
Meet Trish Rodriguez
Trish Rodriguez brings a wealth of professional experience to the workshop. She earned her B.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and her MFA in Creative Writing from Rosemont College. In addition, she has served as Managing Editor of Rathalla Review, prose editor at Typehouse, and fiction editor and contest coordinator at Philadelphia Stories. She currently serves as Editorial Director of Philadelphia Stories and teaches creative writing at Rosemont College.
Her own writing has been published in The Green Sheath, Awakened Voices, Healing Visions, and other literary outlets. Trish combines technical precision with deep creative insight, making her an outstanding guide for this flash fiction intensive.
Flash fiction is one of the most exciting and accessible forms of creative writing today. In just a few hundred words, writers can tell complete, emotionally resonant stories. Moreover, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to play with form, discover new voices, and leave with fresh material and renewed creative energy.
Submission Opportunity: Writers may submit creative work (up to 1,500 words) by July 1, 2026, for discussion during the workshop.
