Rosemont College announced that accomplished author and educator Tracy Kauffman Wood would lead Memoir as Literary Nonfiction: A Survey Course in Reading and Writing Memoir this fall as part of the Writer’s Studio Workshops and Masterclasses. The course takes place from November 6 through December 11, 2025, on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Zoom.
About Tracy Kauffman Wood
Tracy Kauffman Wood is an award winning writer and experienced teacher whose work bridges creativity, reflection, and storytelling. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Rosemont College and a Master of Arts in Education from Maharishi International University. In 2015, she received the Thesis With Distinction Award from Rosemont College’s School for Graduate and Professional Studies. That thesis later became her published memoir Our Dementia, released in 2020 by Auctus Publishers.
In addition, Tracy participated in the University of Iowa Summer Writing Programs and facilitated a monthly Open Mic for Writers for six years. Her career as a freelance photographer and writer has spanned more than thirty years. Her work has appeared on Memoirist.org, WomensMemoirs.com, PBS, Rathalla Review, and several other literary platforms. Furthermore, she has taught writing at Temple University and now serves as a professional writing tutor at Delaware County Community College.
A Unique Learning Experience
Through her course Memoir as Literary Nonfiction, Tracy Kauffman Wood guided students in exploring the art of truth telling through creative writing. The class examined how personal memory transforms into story and how authors blend authenticity with imagination. Students analyzed several memoirs, wrote original vignettes, and shared their work for discussion.
This engaging course encouraged reflection on essential questions about truth, perspective, and storytelling. It also gave participants practical tools to elevate personal writing into the realm of literary nonfiction.
