Rosemont College is excited to welcome acclaimed artist Tim Hawkesworth for a special exhibition titled Then and Now. The show will be on view from August 27 to September 28, 2026, in the Patricia M. Nugent Gallery.
An artist reception will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00pm, featuring an artist talk at 4:00pm.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. This is a wonderful opportunity for the Rosemont community and art enthusiasts to experience the powerful work of an internationally recognized painter and draftsman.
About Tim Hawkesworth
Tim Hawkesworth was raised in Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1977. He earned a BA in History from Trinity College Dublin in 1976 and an MFA from the Museum School in Boston in 1986. Since the early 1980s, he has exhibited extensively in New York and other cities across the United States and Europe.
His work has received significant critical attention in publications such as The New York Times, Art News, The New Yorker, The LA Times, The Boston Globe, and The Irish Times.
Hawkesworth’s pieces are held in major public and private collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and the Dublin City Hugh Lane Gallery. He has also taught workshops at institutions such as MassArt, the Armory Arts Center, the Norristown Arts Building, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

In addition, critics have long praised Tim Hawkesworth for the emotional intensity and technical command of his work. Reviewers have acknowledged his ability to convey organic forms in states of distress and transformation, the fluency and surety of his painting, and the way his drawings layer personal and communal histories with generative energy.
