Knowledge Exchange Institute Program Overview
Rosemont College has an affiliation with the Knowledge Exchange Institute (KEI). Students are able to study abroad through KEI.
KEI offers major specific programs and handles transferring students transcripts back to their sending institution after the program abroad ends. This enables students to earn credits for the courses they take abroad. A benefit of Rosemont being a small school is that advisors are so willing to look over courses with students and find courses that fulfil their graduation requirements. As many countries handle course credits differently, KEI translates the amount of credits into the American equivalent for the sending institution.
KEI, as of right now, offers programs in Australia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Peru, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates. All courses offered in KEI programs are taught in English, removing the language barrier for students.
KEI programs have a few different terms and options. The main options being, fall semester, spring semester, full academic year, and the summer term, but some programs operate on a trimester academic calendar. Many of the programs also offer an internship track where a student may take less courses and participate in an internship while abroad.
Each KEI program has a different price tag, and it is a factor to consider while going abroad. However, the bill will be applied through iWay in place of the Rosemont tuition and the students financial aid and loans will be applied as normal. There are also many study abroad specific scholarships that KEI has linked on their website.
Once a student applies to and is accepted, KEI handles most details from their. It is their job to line up your enrollment, your student housing, and your insurance while abroad. Each program has an onsite director to support students as they adjust, as well as plan outings and fieldtrips included in the program cost. Students are responsible for purchasing their own plane ticket and sharing their flight itinerary with KEI so they can coordinate the student’s pick up from the airport.
KEI Student Testimonial
"While I was abroad, I made friends from all across Europe some countries being Germany, the Netherlands, Norway. I now have lasting friend ships with people I may not have had the opportunity to meet had I not studied abroad. I plan on visiting some of them in the not so far future. I would say that gaining these friendships was one of the most rewarding parts of studying abroad."
