Dominic Younger has made a lasting impression at Rosemont-on the baseball field, in the classroom, and beyond. A standout scholar-athlete, Dominic completed his undergraduate degree a semester early, earning dual degrees in finance and accounting and a minor in management. He is now pursuing his MBA at Rosemont while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
This spring, Dominic was recognized with two of Rosemont’s highest honors: the Undergraduate Presidential Medal-awarded for exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and service-and the Outstanding Tutor of the Year Award during Founders’ Week, celebrating both his academic excellence and dedication to supporting his peers.
What brought you to Rosemont?
I came to Rosemont to play baseball, but I was also drawn to the close-knit feel of the campus. My mom serves in the Navy and was stationed in Naples, Italy, when I graduated from high school. My graduating class was very small, so I knew I wanted a small college as well. Once I got here, I fell in love with the small class sizes and business program.
What did you study?
I finished this past fall with a bachelor’s degree in finance, a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a minor in management. I pushed myself to finish undergrad early with the goal in mind of getting my master’s as soon as possible. I am on track to finish my master’s in August and will continue my learning from there. I love numbers; they make sense to me. I knew I wanted to study accounting as soon as I came to Rosemont.
What other activities or internships were you involved in?
In addition to baseball, I joined the Rosemont Networking Society, which played a big role in helping me find my internship. I attended a job fair through the group and landed an internship with Cohen & Co, a CPA firm. That experience helped me build great connections, and I’ll be starting full-time with them this fall. I’ve been a Resident Assistant and involved with Rosemont’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as well. I also played golf and ran cross country, and I’ve been tutoring accounting since freshman year.
What’s your favorite thing about the Rosemont community?
The tight-knit community and supportive faculty make all the difference. Professor Hagedorn, in particular, is incredible. She brings real-world experience into the classroom and is genuinely invested in her students. Across the board, Rosemont’s faculty and staff go above and beyond to help students succeed.
How does it feel to have a job lined up already?
It’s an amazing feeling to have that kind of certainty. I’ve worked hard for this, and it’s rewarding to see the results. I really believe that your input determines your output. It may sound cliché, but hard work truly does pay off-and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished.
What’s next after Commencement?
My family is now back in Virginia Beach, so I’ll spend the summer with them, and I’ll be working with a youth program through the Navy. I’m also finishing my MBA. This fall, I’ll return to Philadelphia to begin my new role at Cohen & Co in October. Down the line, I plan to pursue my CPA as well.
