Understanding the Power of Scenes
Writers often describe plot as a sequence of meaningful scenes. Jeffrey Markovitz will introduce participants to this idea and explain how strong scenes create momentum and shape a story. Although some authors experiment with unusual structures or shifting timelines, each story still relies on moments that capture action and emotion. These moments help readers understand the characters and their journey.
During the session, attendees will learn how scenes form through the interaction of characters within a defined space. Markovitz will present clear strategies that help writers turn broad concepts into organized and expressive moments. This approach supports both new writers and experienced authors who want to refine their skills.
Building Scenes That Work Together
The masterclass also explores the way scenes connect to form a complete narrative. Participants will examine how each scene can move a story forward and add depth to its central ideas. Through guided exercises, writers will practice creating scenes that work together and support the larger arc of their work. These activities encourage active learning and help writers apply the concepts in meaningful ways.
