Exploring the Power of Storytelling
The Sci Fi Fest Author Talk is part of a two week celebration that travels across eight cities. During each stop, the authors will discuss how journeys create unforgettable stories and why science fiction and fantasy remain timeless genres.
- Yume Kitasei, author of The Deep Sky, The Stardust Grail, and Saltcrop, blends imagination with heartfelt themes. Her writing invites readers to reflect on identity and purpose.
- Julia Vee, co author of Ebony Gate and Pearl City, draws inspiration from her background in law and Asian Studies. As a result of her experience, her stories are layered with culture and emotion.
- Amanda Foody, bestselling author of the Wilderlore series and All of Us Villains, celebrates imagination as one of life’s greatest creative forces.
- Micaiah Johnson, author of The Space Between Worlds, examines identity, belonging, and the nature of reality through bold and original storytelling.
Building Community Through Collaboration
This event also showcases the strong partnership between Kistler Library and Mavey Books, a woman owned independent bookstore in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Over the past year, Chelsea Frank, MLIS, Executive Director of Kistler Library, has worked with Mavey Books to fill book orders for faculty, students, and staff. As a result, this collaboration has strengthened campus connections and promoted reading within the local community.
Furthermore, the partnership continues to grow. The library and bookstore plan to host more author talks, book discussions, and cultural programs that encourage creativity and connection. Together, they are building a literary community that values imagination and learning.
