This Fall 2025, Ruby Baker will instruct a featured course in Rosemont College’s Writer’s Studio Workshops and Masterclasses. As a writer, educator, and mentor, Ruby brings passion, creativity, and deep knowledge to the classroom.
A Strong Academic Foundation
Ruby Baker earned her Master of Fine Arts from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2021. Before that, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in English at Eastern University in 2019. Her academic journey reflects a strong commitment to both writing and education.
Currently, Ruby works at Eastern University as the Writing Center Coordinator. She also teaches as an adjunct instructor in English, Communications, and First Year Studies. In every role, she focuses on one goal: helping students succeed.
Creative Vision Meets Student Support
Ruby’s work during her MFA centered on writing for children and young adults. However, her passion for storytelling began much earlier. As a lifelong reader, she has always loved adventurous and imaginative stories. In particular, she is drawn to fairy tales, comics, fantasy worlds, and anything that explores the magic of storytelling.
Outside of work, Ruby enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Remy and Gus. She also reimagines myths, drinks too much coffee, watches cartoons, and plays Dungeons and Dragons.
Teaching Comics Through Story & Structure
This fall, Ruby will teach Between Gutters and Panels: Learning How To Write Comics. In this workshop, students will explore the unique craft of writing for comics. They will study panel structure, character development, and pacing. By the end of the course, students will have the tools to begin writing their own comics.
Moreover, Ruby brings a supportive teaching style that helps writers of all levels grow. Because of her background in both creative writing and education, students benefit from her practical insights and creative approach.
