Rosemont College is excited to share the latest Rosegrow updates, outlining a series of fall events that highlight student leadership, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. The Rosegrow initiative continues to create meaningful opportunities for students to connect with nature, honor campus history, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Greenhouse Restoration: September 19th
This weekās activities begin with a Greenhouse Restoration Day on Friday, September 19th,Ā at 10:00am. Led by Professor Adam Lusk, volunteers will gather at the Rosemont Greenhouse to help with cleaning and repair projects. All participants should wear clothing appropriate for outdoor work. This effort supports the ongoing restoration of a key green space on campus.
Exploring Rosemontās Legacy
During next weekās Rosegrow meeting, students will watch a video on Mother Mary Lawrence to support the upcoming Rosegrow coffee table book project. Professor Campbell will also share the table of contents and invite student feedback.
Additionally, on Friday, September 26th, students will take a field trip to Professor Campbellās farm to harvest bamboo for a new garden structure. Those interested should email their availability for any time after 10:00am.
Pet Blessing: October 8th
Looking ahead, Rosegrow invites students to join the St. Francis Pet Blessing on Wednesday, October 8th at 12:00pm. The event will be held in the Sharon Latchaw Hirsh Community Center lobby. If you are unable to attend, you and your pet can still participate in the Pet Blessing. Just email a photo of your pet to [email protected]Ā by 10:00am on October 8th, the day of the event. Weāll print the photos and bless your pet(s) alongside the live ones.
Honoring the Past Through Action
On Thursday, October 23rd, Rosegrow will harvest marigolds from the Patrick Herman Garden. The flowers will be used for the Rosemont Heritage Memorial Walk, taking place the following day, Friday, October 24th, at Calvary Cemetery. During the walk, students and community members will leave marigold bouquets at the gravesites of Rosemont community members in celebration of DĆa de los Muertos, All Souls Day.
To help preserve the flowers, Rosegrow is organizing a glass jar and vase drive. Students interested in donating containers or helping with bouquet preparation should email [email protected] by Thursday, October 23rd.
