Relyea Hired as Head Softball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

Rosemont, PA – Bill Relyea has been named the new Head Softball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Rosemont College.

“I am pleased to welcome Bill to the Rosemont community. Bill’s track record of success with Coach Dohrmann at Widener was very appealing in our decision. Bill is well prepared to step in and take the Ravens Softball program to new levels of success”, said Athletic Director, Joe Pavlow.

Bill Relyea brings 30 years of athletics coaching experience and specifically 17 years of softball coaching to Rosemont College.  He has worked as a private instructor and coach for multiple SB organizations (10u-18u) throughout the Delaware Valley, competing in ASA, USSSA, Pony, and Triple Crown tournaments.  He is a fixture as a Guest Instructor and speaker at NCAA softball recruiting camps across the nation.  He brings great enthusiasm and vision as well as an impressive record of success on and off the diamond.

He joined the coaching staff at Widener University in 2012 as a hitting and catching coach.  In seven seasons at Widener, Bill helped WUSB win 163 games (.638 win %), achieving a program-best record of 31-11 in 2016.  This included six trips to the Mid-Atlantic Commonwealth (MAC) Conference Tournament where WUSB finished as MAC Conference Tournament Runner’s Up three of the past five years.  In 2017, Widener won the 1st MAC Conference Championship in program history which preceded their 1st Regional NCAA appearance where WUSB also finished as the Regional Runner’s Up in Cortland, NY. While at Widener, Bill coached 83 NFCA D-III Scholar-Athletes, 15 All-MAC players, and the first CoSIDA District IV Academic All-American in program history (2015 & 2016).

Outside of Softball, Bill is a certified Christian Executive/Leadership Coach, speaker, and adjunct professor of organizational psychology, complex adaptive systems, and leadership development.  He obtained a diploma in Nursing in 1992, then a B.S. from Widener University in 2008.  Following a 25-year career in nursing, including nurse paralegal and nurse project management, he completed M.S. (2016) and doctoral coursework. He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Proposal stage of the dissertation process.  He is also an accomplished musician and martial-artist, an avid golfer, and skilled chess player.

“I want to thank Director, Joe Pavlow, and Assistant Director, Dr. Ashley Hodges!  I am both thrilled and honored with the opportunity to lead the Rosemont Softball program into the future.  God is so cool!!  I cannot wait to meet the team and get started.  Go Ravens!!!”, said Relyea.

Bill lives in Delco with his wife of 23 years, Lynne, their two daughters, Sonia (a Jr. at Temple University) and Charlotte (a Sr. at Interboro H.S.), and their rescued boxer, Shelby (a class clown at Kiwi Dogz Skool).
