Rosemont College invites students to take part in a meaningful Quilting Event this February. The Black Student Union sponsors Quilting the Rosemont Witness Tree in celebration of Black History Month. The event takes place on February 11th at 12:00pm in Cardinal Dining Hall. It welcomes all students, faculty, and staff.
This Quilting Event reflects collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Gallery. It highlights creativity, storytelling, and shared memory. Participants will help create quilt pieces that honor the history of Rosemont College. The activity encourages reflection and connection across generations.
Understanding the Witness Tree Tradition
The Witness Tree holds deep meaning at Rosemont College. These trees have stood on campus for over 103 years. They have witnessed moments of growth, learning, and community change. Through this Quilting Event, students honor those stories in a creative way.
Students may bring old clothes or quilt squares from home. However, no materials are required to join. Supplies will be available for anyone who wants to take part.
A Celebration of Black History Month
Black History Month offers time for learning and reflection. This Quilting Event aligns with those goals. It highlights voices, stories, and traditions through hands on engagement. The Black Student Union leads the effort with pride and purpose.
Events like this enrich the student experience. They support inclusion and cultural awareness. They also create opportunities for students to engage beyond the classroom.
