New Grant Opportunity for Student Creators

Rosemont College invites students to apply for the Philadelphia Student Mediamaker Fund by October 31, 2005 as a valuable opportunity for those looking to develop digital media projects. Offered through Scribe Video Center with support from the Independence Public Media Foundation, this fund empowers students to create original content in video or audio formats.

Importantly, the program encourages storytelling that explores identity, culture, or community. It also gives students a platform to build their portfolios and gain hands on media experience.

Who Can Apply and What to Expect

The fund provides direct financial support to help students complete their creative projects:

• Undergraduate students and students enrolled in media making training programs may receive up to $1,000.
• Graduate students are eligible for awards of up to $1,500.

Unlike many funding programs, this opportunity is open to both formal and informal student creators. The next application deadline is October 31st, with a second deadline on March 15th. Students should begin planning early to take full advantage of the opportunity.

Marketing Students Strongly Encouraged to Participate

While the fund is open to all majors, Marketing majors and minors at Rosemont College are especially encouraged to apply. Today’s marketing professionals must understand media strategy and digital storytelling. This program allows students to build those skills in a real world setting.
