Rosemont College invites the community to experience Pennsylvania German Folk Art, an engaging exhibition in the Cultural Heritage Gallery. Open from October through November 2025, the exhibit celebrates the artistry and heritage of Pennsylvania’s early German settlers.
A Celebration of Tradition & Craft
The Pennsylvania German Folk Art exhibit highlights how creativity and purpose come together in handmade objects. Each piece reflects the values, beliefs, and resilience of Pennsylvania German communities. Visitors will see how art infused daily life with meaning, beauty, and cultural pride.
The exhibit features Fraktur documents filled with elegant calligraphy and illuminated designs. It also includes stoneware crafted with intricate slip-decorated patterns and iron work shaped with remarkable skill. Colorful bird trees and traditional redware pottery showcase the folk tradition’s connection to nature and home. In addition, visitors can enjoy charming Noah’s Arks, expressive Wilhelm Schimmel carvings, James C. Seagreaves pottery and striking examples of paint decorated furniture. Every piece tells a story of creativity passed from one generation to the next.

Rosemont College is honored to present works from the Campbell-Nichols American Folk Art Collection. This celebrated collection preserves important pieces of early American craftsmanship. The loaned works provide an opportunity for students and visitors to study genuine examples of folk artistry up close.
