We love to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students here at Rosemont College! Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Pearl Smith, a dedicated student whose hard work and commitment have earned her a place on the Dean’s List.
Meet Pearl Smith
Pearl is pursuing a BA in Sustainability Studies with a Sociology minor. When asked about her favorite course, Pearl enthusiastically shared, “My favorite course I’ve taken at Rosemont is From Conservation to Climate Change, a sustainability elective taught by Professor Reist. I enjoyed the course’s coverage of significant milestones in the environmental movement and the related class discussions. Additionally, I enjoyed the course’s engaging readings throughout the semester, especially Henry David Thoreau’s Walden; or Life in the Woods.”
Why Rosemont?
Pearl chose Rosemont for “the close-knit small campus community. My relationships with my peers, teammates, professors, and staff at Rosemont make my higher education experience special.”
Beyond the Classroom
Pearl is not only excelling academically but is also an active member of the Rosemont community. She’s involved with Women’s Volleyball and is a youth club coach for Liberty Belle Volleyball Club in Media, PA. Additionally, Pearl is a student worker at the Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library.
Shaping the Future
Looking ahead, Pearl has a clear vision for her impact on the world. “After graduation, I plan to pursue opportunities focused within the sustainability field and care for the world as our common home.”
Words of Inspiration
Pearl shared her favorite experience at Rosemont: “My favorite experience at Rosemont has been participating as a member of Rosemont’s environmental coalition, Rosegrow. Our goal is to pursue environmental stewardship at Rosemont, intended to have a lasting impact on the future of Rosemont’s campus. During the spring semester, we began creating the Patrick Herman Memorial Vegetable Garden as well as a native plant rewilding project. What makes Rosegrow so special are the students, professors, and Rosemont staff and faculty that share a deep love for our campus and its history. We remain dedicated to the Rosemont community and preserving the beauty of our campus. I’m excited for continued projects and the future of Rosegrow!”
We are incredibly proud of Pearl’s accomplishments and can’t wait to see the positive impact she will undoubtedly make. Stay tuned for more spotlights on our amazing Rosemont College students!
