Rosemont College remembers and honors the life of Patrick Herman with deep gratitude and love. Today, February 6, 2026 marks one year since the passing of a beloved member of the Rosemont community.
Patrick Herman joined Rosemont College in October 2023 as Mailroom Coordinator. From the start, he brought warmth, kindness, and dedication to his role. He greeted everyone with generosity and respect.
Patrick offered help whenever it was needed. He volunteered at weekend events and supported campus initiatives with energy and compassion. As a result, he quickly became an integral part of daily life at Rosemont. His presence created friendship, connection and comfort for many.
A Living Tribute Through the Memorial Garden
In honor of Patrick Herman, Rosemont College established the Patrick Herman Memorial Community Garden in the summer of 2025. The garden stands as a living tribute to his life and values. It reflects his passion for gardening, nature’s beauty and his care for the earth.
Faculty and staff volunteers gathered with members of the Patrick family during the garden opening. Together, they planted the first seedlings. That moment symbolized community, remembrance, and hope. Since then, the garden has continued to grow and thrive.
Many members of the Rosemont community, such as Gerard Regan, have taken active roles in caring for the space. In addition, Rosegrow, the student environmental club, has assumed stewardship during the fall and spring semesters. Last March, Rosegrow honored Patrick Herman by planting seeds in his memory. Fresh produce continues to grow in the memorial garden, which is shared with the campus community.
A Legacy That Continues to Give
Rosemont College remains grateful for Patrick Herman and his family. His spirit continues to guide community efforts focused on care for the earth. His legacy will also continue through Rosegrow’s ongoing greenhouse project.
