From Awareness to Action: Sexual Violence Prevention and Response
Rosemont College is proud to host The Honorable Deborah S. Ryan, Chester County Court of Common Pleas Judge, for this year’s Norcini Lecture. The event, titled “From Awareness to Action: Sexual Violence Prevention and Response,” brings together experts in law enforcement, victim advocacy, and the judicial system to discuss strategies for preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors.
Held during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, this discussion will provide attendees with critical knowledge and resources to create safer communities. Participants will gain valuable insight into prevention strategies, navigating the legal system, and supporting survivors on their path to healing.

About Judge Deborah S. Ryan
Judge Ryan has dedicated her career to advocating for victims and their families. As Chester County’s first female District Attorney (2020-2023), she led an office of 100 employees and managed over 7,000 cases annually. With over 25 years of prosecutorial experience, she has successfully prosecuted cases involving sexual violence, child abuse, domestic violence, and homicide.
Prior to becoming a judge, she served as Deputy District Attorney overseeing the Child Abuse Unit and Children’s Advocacy Center. Her commitment to justice earned her the Chester County Prosecutor of the Year Award in 2014. Additionally, she coordinated the Safe and Healthy Communities Initiative, an effort to eradicate child abuse through education and advocacy.
Judge Ryan holds degrees from Boston University (magna cum laude) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She continues to be a leader in legal reform and survivor advocacy.
