A Distinctive Voice in Contemporary Poetry
Nicole Markert’s poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Moon City Review, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, SWWIM Every Day, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, Rust and Moth, Furrow Magazine, and several other respected literary journals. Their work blends identity, emotion, and visual language in ways that continue to resonate with readers.
In addition, Nicole holds an MFA in Poetry and a MA in Publishing from Rosemont College. Nicole currently resides in the Philadelphia area and works at Eastern University as an instructor, advisor, and assistant in the English and Communications department. Through both teaching and writing, Nicole remains committed to advancing the role of literature in education.
New Course Offering: Between Gutters & Panels
This fall, Nicole will teach a new non credited course titled Between Gutters and Panels: Learning How to Write Comics. In this workshop, students will explore the fundamentals of comic storytelling. They will learn how to craft scripts, develop characters, and understand how text and image work together. As a result, students will gain practical tools for telling stories in a visual format.
Moreover, Nicole’s interest in graphic literature adds depth to the course. Because they actively integrate comics into their own curriculum, students will benefit from hands-on insight and real-world examples. Whether you are a writer, educator, or artist, this course offers a valuable foundation in a growing creative field.
