ROSEMONT, Pa – Senior center Ashley Murray and junior forward Keith Blassingale were named to the D3Hoops.com All-Region teams in the Atlantic region on Monday afternoon.
Murray was named a first team honoree in the Atlantic region on the women’s side. Blassingale received third-team honors on the men’s side.
Murray was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference women’s basketball player of the year in 2018-19, averaging 15.7 points and 11.0 rebounds in helping the Ravens to an undefeated league campaign, a school record 19 game winning streak and a first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. Murray had double-doubles in points and rebounds in 15 of the Ravens 28 games this season despite the fact that she only averaged 22.5 minutes per game because of the lopsided nature of many of the Ravens contests during the regular season.
Blassingale- a junior forward from New Foundations Charter in Philadelphia- was selected as a first team All-CSAC honoree, finishing the season with a 19.0 point per game average and 3.6 rebounds per contest. Blassingale’s best games came down the stretch for the Ravens in the CSAC playoffs, where he averaged 37 points a game in helping the Ravens to their first NCAA Championship appearance and the first conference crown in the history of the men’s basketball program. He set a school record for points in a game during a 45 point outing against Wilson in the CSAC semifinals, also establishing a record setting nine three-pointers along the way.
Both players are eligible for All-American honors, which will be announced later in the week prior to the Division III National Championship tournaments on the men’s and women’s side. The D3Hoops.com All-American teams are- along with the ones named by the National Association of Basketball Coaches- the only two All-American squads at the Division III level that are recognized by the NCAA.
