Rosemont Invites Students to Celebrate Dr. King's Legacy Through the MLK Artistic Expression Contest - Submissions Due Friday, February 14
Rosemont College is excited to announce the start of its annual MLK Artistic Expression Contest, an inspiring opportunity for students to reflect on the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s theme, “The Beloved Community,” encourages participants to explore Dr. King’s vision of a just, equal, and loving society.
In his 1957 speech, Birth of A New Nation, Dr. King said, “The aftermath of nonviolence is the creation of the beloved community. The aftermath of nonviolence is redemption. The aftermath of nonviolence is reconciliation.”
Essays, short stories, poems, songs, visual art, and performance pieces are all welcome! Through their chosen form of creative expression, students are invited to explore and reflect on the theme of the beloved community.
“Our goal is to provide students with a platform to honor Dr. King’s ideals while showcasing their creativity and unique voices,” said Madison Faith Lauffer, Director of Student Engagement. “The Beloved Community is a concept that continues to inspire, and we look forward to seeing how our students bring it to life.”
