ROSEMONT, Pa. – Rosemont College has named Jesse Zafiratos as its new head men’s soccer coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Joe Pavlow.
Zafiratos comes to Rosemont after an extremely impressive three-year stint at Penn State Brandywine. In his three seasons, he compiled a 50-10-3 overall record while leading the Lions to their first-ever USCAA National Championship in 2018. During his three-year tenure, his teams won three straight PSUAC Conference Championships from 2016-2018.
"Early on in the process Jesse was identified as a candidate that we were very interested in," said Pavlow. "After meeting with him in person it became clear that he has his finger on the pulse of soccer in the Philadelphia region.
"This is evident with his tremendous recent success at Penn State Brandywine against both D3 opponents and at the USCAA national level," he added.
This past season, the team set a school record in wins with 18, which also included a school record 16 game consecutive winning streak. During his time at Brandywine, he was named 2018 Philadelphia Inquirer Small College Coach of the Year and 2017 PSUAC Coach of the year.
He is just the third head coach in the history of Rosemont men’s soccer. He takes over for David Carvalho, who resigned in May to take an assistant coaching position at Villanova.
Zafiratos, who spent five seasons as an assistant at Widener University, inherits a squad that returns ten starters from last year.
"I would like to thank Athletic Director Joe Pavlow for this great opportunity ahead. I am really looking forward to getting everyone together and getting started," said Zafiratos.
"I am also really looking forward to bringing a new sense of energy and excitement to this program," Zafiratos added. "If everyone buys in, and just competes every day, I fully expect us to be there come CSAC playoff time."
