We love to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students here at Rosemont College! Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Jenny Felton, a dedicated student whose hard work and commitment have earned her a place on the President’s List.
Meet Jenny Felton
Jenny is pursuing a BS in Criminal Justice with a Forensics Concentration through the School of Professional Studies. When asked about her favorite course, Jenny enthusiastically shared, “My favorite course has been Principles for Academic Success. I love this course because I have been out of college for 24 years, and this course gave me the instruction, the support, and the confidence I feel I needed to be successful in college.”
Why Rosemont?
What Jenny loves most about Rosemont is “the sense of being a part of a strong family unit. The support and encouragement that I have received from the staff has been amazing.”
Beyond the Classroom
Jenny is not only excelling academically but is also embarking on a new chapter in her professional life. She is newly retired from the Philadelphia Police Department after an 18-year career.
Shaping the Future
Looking ahead, Jenny has a clear vision for her impact on the world. “What I would like more than anything is to be able to encourage people who have doubts about returning to school as an adult learner.”
Words of Inspiration
Jenny shared her inspiring journey, saying, “I dropped out of college 24 years ago, while working full-time, and being a single mother of 4 children. I didn’t have the time to fully commit to the instruction because I wanted to be present for my children. After so many years, I wasn’t sure that I would ever complete my degree. While raising my children, I have always taught them to finish what they started, no matter what it was. So upon graduating from college, both of my daughters said to me, ‘Mom, you have done your job with us. When are you going to finish what you started?’. So here I am, a now 51-year-old retired Police Officer, Mother of 4 (2 Sons and 2 Daughters), and Grandmother of 3 beautiful little girls, finishing what I started! My family is my inspiration and I feel that I owe this accomplishment to myself. When I am done, I will have a degree in Criminal Justice, as well as in Forensic Psychology. I am beyond proud of myself for not just returning to complete my degree, but for being recognized for my academic achievements. Wow, I made the President’s List!! I am truly grateful for the support of my family and friends.”
We are incredibly proud of Jenny’s accomplishments and can’t wait to see the positive impact she will undoubtedly make. Stay tuned for more spotlights on our amazing Rosemont College students!
