An Inspiring Masterclass on Memory and Storytelling
Rosemont College is proud to welcome Jennifer Rieger, an acclaimed educator and author, to teach Beyond the Veil: Writing the Ghosts That Haunt Us. This masterclass invites participants to explore the emotional themes and memories that shape their personal stories. Through reflective writing and guided discussion, attendees will transform their own “ghosts” into meaningful works of literature.
This session focuses on the power of storytelling to heal and connect. Writers will examine how experiences of loss, nostalgia, and growth influence creativity. They will also learn how to turn those moments into poetry and prose that speak to the human experience. The workshop offers a space for reflection, courage, and artistic discovery.
About Jennifer Rieger
Jennifer Rieger is a public educator and college professor from the Philadelphia area. She is known for her dedication to empowering others through reading, writing, and acts of compassion. Her work encourages writers to use creativity as a way to understand themselves and the world around them.
Jennifer Rieger’s achievements reflect her commitment to excellence in both teaching and literature. She received the Franklin Institute 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2021 Philadelphia Phillies All Star Teaching Award. She was also a semi finalist for the Pennsylvania Department of Education Teacher of the Year.
Her writing has appeared in Chautauqua Literary Journal, Wisconsin Review, and BUST Magazine. She earned Pushcart Prize for Literature nominations in 2020 and 2022. In 2022, Minerva Rising Press published her essay collection Burning Sage. This collection tells the story of a teacher and mother learning when to hold on and when to let go.
Jennifer Rieger holds a BA in English, an MA in English Literature, and an MFA in Creative Writing. Her deep experience and passion for writing make her an inspiring guide for participants.
