Rosemont College is proud to present Behind the Veil and Soldiers of the Poem, a compelling exhibition by the renowned figurative artist Jeffrey Filbert. The exhibition runs from November 6 through December 8, 2025, at the Patricia M. Nugent Gallery. Jeffrey Filbert works in painting, sculpture, and printmaking, exploring both realism and abstraction in his interpretation of the human figure.
Meet Jeffrey Filbert
Jeffrey Filbert brings decades of experience and creativity to his work. His studio is located at 305 Benson Street in Camden, New Jersey. The building has a rich history. Originally built in 1926, it served as a Union Hall for the Italian section of Camden. During the Great Depression, it became an Italian restaurant. After a period of vacancy, it was used by a church. Filbert purchased the studio more than twenty years ago. Today, it continues to be a space where new artistic ideas emerge.
Filbert’s work demonstrates both versatility and depth. Whether creating lifelike sculptures or stretching the figure toward abstraction in painting and printmaking, he approaches every medium with curiosity and skill. His pieces reveal an ongoing exploration of form, movement, and human expression. Furthermore, viewers can observe how his techniques evolve across different media. Opening Reception & Artist Talk
The Patricia M. Nugent Gallery will host the opening reception on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00pm. Guests will have the opportunity to view the exhibition and meet Jeffrey Filbert in person. At 4:00pm, he will give an artist talk. During this presentation, Filbert will discuss his creative process and the inspiration behind Behind the Veil and Soldiers of the Poem. The conversation promises to deepen understanding of his artistic approach.
