Rosemont College is excited to announce that Ivan X Cruz will lead Intro to Fiction I, a live Zoom workshop this fall. The class runs from September 24 – October 29, 2025, meeting on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:00pm. It is part of the Fall 2025 Writer’s Studio Workshops and Masterclasses.
Ivan X Cruz is a passionate fiction writer and an MFA graduate of Seton Hill University’s Writing Popular Fiction program. There, he studied with horror authors Dr. Michael Arnzen and Gwendolyn Kiste, who helped shape his creative voice. Their guidance pushed his storytelling to a new level.
His short story, Director of Social Media, was published in Dovetail Magazine. It received praise from award winning horror writer Sarah Langan. That moment sparked a turning point in Ivan’s writing journey. He is now pitching his debut novel, The One Who Stole from the Devil.

Intro to Fiction I is perfect for beginners or writers returning to the page. Over six weeks, students will study the basics of fiction. Topics include character creation, point of view, story structure, setting, and dialogue.
Each week features focused instruction, writing exercises, and real time feedback. As a working author, Ivan shares practical advice based on his own experience. He helps students strengthen their writing skills and develop a creative routine.
