Rosemont College is excited to offer Intro to Fiction I, a six week live course beginning Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Instructor Ivan X Cruz will lead the class each week from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Zoom. This course is part of the Writerās Studio Workshops and Masterclasses for Fall 2025.
Designed for beginner and intermediate writers, Intro to Fiction I introduces the core elements of storytelling. Each session offers focused instruction, hands on practice, and engaging discussions with peers.
Learn the Foundations of Storytelling
Over six structured modules, students will explore key topics in fiction writing:
- Introduction to Fiction
- Creating Compelling Characters
- Plot ā The Engine of Your Story
- Point of View
- Description and Setting
- Writing Dynamic Dialogue
Each week, students will complete short assignments that reinforce the concepts covered in class. Moreover, they will receive direct feedback from Ivan X Cruz and participate in group discussions that encourage growth and creativity.
Gain Confidence and Build Writing Skills
As the course progresses, students will learn how to develop original stories from idea to execution. They will strengthen their writing habits, deepen their understanding of fiction, and expand their creative range. In addition, students will leave the course with a set of practical techniques they can use in future writing projects.
This course also serves as a solid foundation for Intro to Fiction II, which will cover more advanced material in the next term.
