Rosemont College Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at ALPFA Philadelphia’s "Herencia y Orgullo" Event
On Thursday, September 26, 2024, business students from Rosemont College attended ALPFA Philadelphia’s “Herencia y Orgullo” event at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. The event, which ran from 6:00PM to 9:00PM, was a lively celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. It highlighted the rich and diverse cultures within the Hispanic and Latino/Latina communities.
The evening featured a keynote address from Hector Nuñez, the founder of ‘Wooder Ice.’ This popular Philadelphia based Instagram account keeps locals informed about city news and upcoming events. Nuñez shared his insights about cultural representation and community engagement, inspiring attendees with his story.
Madison Morton, a student from the Class of 2027, attended the event and was impressed by the positive atmosphere. “There was great music, a dance lesson, and great presentations about Afro Latinidad. Everyone there made it such a friendly and welcoming environment,” she said.
The event included interactive stations, allowing attendees to explore different aspects of Hispanic culture. One of the highlights was the live salsa lessons, where guests enjoyed learning the rhythm of this popular dance. The night also offered great networking opportunities for students and professionals alike. It was an excellent chance to connect with others and celebrate shared heritage.
