Rosemont College students are invited to join a special High Impact Friday experience on September 18, 2026: a Doylestown Cultural District Tour led by Professor Joanne Campbell. This engaging off campus opportunity explores the rich artistic and historical landscape of Doylestown through visits to four remarkable cultural sites.
Exploring Art & Heritage in Doylestown
The tour begins at the Michener Art Museum, which showcases the art and cultural heritage of the Delaware Valley region. Students will have the chance to engage with exhibitions that highlight local creativity and historical context before continuing the journey across the street.
Next, the group will visit the Mercer Museum, home to extensive collections of objects representing everyday life in the pre industrial age. The museumβs unique displays offer insight into tools, trades, and material culture that shaped earlier communities.
Fonthill Castle & the Moravian Tileworks
After exploring the museum campus, participants will travel by bus to Fonthill Castle, the former home of Henry Mercer.
The day will conclude at the Moravian Tileworks, which is maintained as a working history museum. Here, handmade tiles are still produced using methods similar to those developed by Henry Mercer.
Students interested in art, history, architecture, cultural studies, or simply a meaningful day of exploration are encouraged to participate.
Rosemont College High Impact Fridays
Rosemont College launched "High Impact Fridays" in Fall of 2026. It is a voluntary initiative offering diverse experiential learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom. Each week features unique activities designed to foster personal growth, career development, and community connection. Ultimately, the program enriches the Student Life experience by connecting academic concepts with real-world practice and preparing graduates for leadership and rewarding careers. Examples include the American Revolution Museum, the Doylestown Cultural District and the 9/11 Memorial at the McKaig Nature Center.
