Rosemont College shares, with deep respect and affection, this In Memoriam tribute to Delories L. Richardi, Class of 1953. Delories was a devoted alumna whose lifelong service, generosity, and passion for history left a lasting mark on the Rosemont community.
A Lifetime of Service & Leadership
Throughout her remarkable life, Delories demonstrated unwavering commitment to Rosemont College and its mission of faith, service, and academic excellence. Her influence extended across generations of students and alumni. In 1994, she received the Volunteer Service Award in Memory of Barbara Hilferty Freney ’64, an honor her sister, Margaretta Richardi ’48, earned one year earlier. Ten years later, Delories was again recognized with the Award for Distinguished Service for her ongoing leadership and dedication. Together, Delories and her sister Margaretta were presented with honorary doctoral degrees at the Rosemont College 2016 Commencement Ceremony by President Sharon Latchaw Hirsh and Board Chairman Richard Geschke, Esq. They were praised for using their education “to achieve professional success and to enrich the world.“
Even in recent years, Delories continued to share her expertise and enthusiasm. In 2021, she contributed to the Education Sub Committee of the Centennial Committee, helping preserve the college’s legacy for future generations. Her dedication reflected not only loyalty but also genuine love for the community she helped build.
Preserving Rosemont’s History
Delories’s passion for preservation was evident in her work at the Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library. After retiring, she volunteered on the Steering Committee and managed the Friends of the Rosemont College Library memberships. Moreover, she curated exhibits that celebrated the history and beauty of the campus, ensuring that new students understood Rosemont’s proud traditions.
Together with her sister Margaretta, she co authored Cavalcade of Buildings at Rosemont College and Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at Rosemont College. These works remain vital records of Rosemont’s architectural and spiritual heritage. Her contributions also extended to preserving the legacy of The Society of the Holy Child Jesus and supporting the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
A Legacy of Gratitude & Reflection
Delories’s reflections on her own journey capture her humility and gratitude. In the “As I Reflect On My…” alumni oral history project, she shared how Rosemont shaped her path. Although she majored in art, her education encouraged her to explore new fields. As she explained, “Rosemont gave me the chance to apply my logical thinking and experience in the computer field. It was not my original plan, but it became a rewarding path.”
Remembering a Cherished Alumna
Delories L. Richardi will be deeply missed by her sister Margaretta ’48 and by all who knew her warmth and grace. Her generosity, intellect, and devotion to preserving Rosemont’s history continue to inspire.
