Celebrating a Century of Legacy
Rosemont College is thrilled to announce the Connelly Hall Centennial Celebration! We invite the entire community to join us on Friday, November 14 at 3:00pm in the beautiful Connelly Hall Courtyard for an afternoon of history, community, and celebration. This milestone event honors a building central to the college’s rich past and vibrant future.
Connelly Hall has stood as a beacon on the Rosemont campus for one hundred years. Its centennial adds another layer to the institution’s impressive history, which began when Rosemont College was established in 1921. Rosemont College was founded to meet the needs of the time, preparing young women to embrace new opportunities while upholding Catholic ideals. This dedication to “meet the wants of the age” continues today.
A Full Schedule of Events
The celebration will feature a fascinating schedule of presentations and activities that delve into Rosemont’s heritage. The event begins with a Welcome from Rennie Andrews, followed by a Dedication by Sr. Margaret Doyle, SHCJ.
Attendees will learn about the building’s distinct design in The Architecture of Grosvenor Atterbury with Prof. Joanne S. Campbell. Prof. Michelle Moravec will share delightful insights in The Canine History of Rosemont College. Following this, the Rosegrow Environmental Coalition will present Updates On The Connelly Hall Rewilding Initiative, demonstrating Rosemont’s commitment to sustainability and the next one hundred years. The celebration concludes with a reception in the Gertrude Kistler Memorial Library next to The Cultural Heritage Gallery and the Student Exhibition honoring Mexico.
Continuing a Tradition of Excellence
This centennial celebration of Connelly Hall echoes the spirit of the 2021 campus wide Centennial Celebration. Rosemont College has consistently adapted and grown throughout the decades. The institution has expanded to include professional studies, graduate programs, and online degrees, always focused on developing open and critical minds.
Our more than 9,000 alumnae & alumni have become successful writers, scientists, educators, and leaders, embodying the mission to “meet the wants of the age” in their own careers. Celebrating Connelly Hall is a celebration that cements this enduring legacy and the promise of the future. It marks a renewed focus on Rosemont’s legacy that is forever marked in history.
