Biography

I was born in Havana, Cuba. Attended the VN Obraztsov Institute for Engineers in Saint Petersburg, Russia. There I graduated in 1988 with a Master of Science degree and returned to Cuba with the desire for Perestroika to become a reality for Cuba. In 1992, I immigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; I lived there for three years until moving to London, Ontario, where I studied Fashion Design at Fanshawe College of Technology. In 1999, I moved with my family to the city of Rochester, New York, and began teaching Spanish at the Rochester Institute of Technology, at the same time working as an editor and translator for the page. A page dedicated to serving the local community. I graduated from Villanova University in 2010 with a Master’s in Hispanic studies and continue teaching at Rosemont College. During my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and scuba diving. I love writing and storytelling, it’s a pleasant reminiscence of a family tradition from my childhood on an island full of contrasts.
