Biography

Renee began her educational career as a kindergarten teacher in the School District of Philadelphia and worked in that capacity for over 20 years. She transitioned into administration where she worked for 15 years and held positions such as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Pre-K – 8th grades and Director of Kindergarten Support overseeing and supporting professional development for 176 elementary school kindergarten teachers.  

Renee retired from the School District of Philadelphia in June 2014 from the position of Deputy Chief for the Office of Early Childhood where she oversaw all components of the district’s Pre-K programs as well as all K-8 elementary school curriculum and instructional programming. 

Renee has been an educator and an advocate for children for more than 45 years. Renee holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, a Master’s Degree in Education, and a Reading Specialist certification. She also holds a Principal K-12 certification, an Early Childhood Supervisory certification, and a Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility. Renee has been appointed by the Governor’s Office as a member of the Pennsylvania Early Learning Council and continues to serve the children of Philadelphia and their families. 

Renee is currently an Adjunct Professor at Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr, PA, and has been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for more than 15 years. She also works as an educational consultant for Pre-K Programs, Charter Schools, and other educational institutions. Renee believes that teaching is an art and a gift, which has been given to many. 

Renee has four children, 20 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Renee is blessed to have a husband who is a Godly helpmate. Renee loves the Lord and proclaims that all things are possible with God. She has been a member of the Berachah Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA for 28 years and is a willing and joyful servant of God.
