Frequentsly Asked Questions
Must I Specify a Dollar Amount for My Bequest to Rosemont?
In addition to naming a specific dollar amount in your will, you can also arrange to leave a percentage of your estate’s value or the remainder of your estate after other gifts are made. We welcome gifts of any size.
Is it Easy to Include a Charitable Gift to Rosemont in My Will?
Yes, adding a charitable gift to Rosemont College in your will is straightforward and can be done with the assistance of your lawyer or estate planner.
What if I Don’t Have a Will?
A surprising number of people, even those with substantial assets, never complete this essential task.
When a person dies without a will, state law dictates how their assets are distributed. Having a will gives you full control: your written wishes determine precisely how and to whom your assets will be distributed.
If you haven’t drafted a will yet and need a referral to qualified estate attorneys in your community, Rosemont may be able to assist or recommend an experienced lawyer.
Does My Bequest Gift Have to be a Dollar Amount?
No. people can name a percentage instead of a dollar amount:
- Physical assets such as a home
- Financial investments such as stocks, bonds, or certificates of deposit
- A life insurance policy or retirement plan. You can arrange for this type of gift by naming Rosemont College as your beneficiary
The Board of Trustees of Rosemont College recently approved a Gift Acceptance Policy that allows the College to recognize and credit donors for bequests or other planned gifts. Rosemont will include your name in listings of donors, regardless of when your bequest was originally made, if that is your preference.
To provide credit and recognition, appropriate documentation must be provided to Rosemont College. Documentation should include:
- The commitment specifying an amount to be distributed to the organization or, if a percentage of the estate or trust, a credible estimate of the estate’s value at the time of commitment.
- Date of birth of the donor.
- Verification of the commitment through one of the following forms:
-
- A letter or agreement from the donor or donor’s advisor affirming the commitment
- Copy of the will (only the portion relevant to Rosemont College)
- Notification form signed by the donor or advisor
-
