Creative Writing Minor Requirements
The Undergraduate College: Traditional, On Campus
The Undergraduate College Creative Writing program offers a minor that requires 18 credits (6 courses) available with the Major of your choice:Â
Minor Courses: 9 credits (3 courses). Two courses may be double counted between the Creative Writing Minor and the Major.
Minor Elective Courses: 9 credits (3 courses).
Under certain conditions, a student may have a minor field designated on their Rosemont transcript. Candidates for the minor must select 21-24 credits above the introductory level in a discipline. These courses are chosen from the Academic Offerings section of the catalog for approved minors. A minimum grade point average of 2.00 in the minor is required. Discuss with your advisor.

WRT 0205: Introduction to Creative Writing
Prerequisite: None
Introduction to Creative Writing gives the student an opportunity to explore personal voice and style and experiment with different modes of creative writing. In this course, you will study an overiview of the art and craft of writing poems, fiction and creative non-fiction stories. We will read, analyze, and write works of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction to understand better the ways creative writers think about and utilize their craft. Students will share their own work and read the work of other course participants.

WRT 0210: Creative Writing Nonfiction
Prerequisite: WRT-0110 or Permission Of Instructor (POI).
Creative Writing – Nonfiction teaches students how to write effective prose in the genre popularly referred to as Creative Nonfiction. In this class, students will analyze the work of established creative nonfiction writers and then build upon that research through writing their own creative nonfiction. Through class discussions, workshops and conferences, students will also learn how to give and receive productive feedback on the creative nonfiction of their peers and how to submit their work for publication.

WRT 0215: Creative Writing Short Fiction
Prerequisite: WRT 0110
The workshop format of this course will allow students to read and discuss each other’s work as well as a range of short fiction from established writers—contemporary and classic. With a focus on individual goals, students will create a portfolio to include flash fiction as well as short stories of varying lengths, including a chapter for a longer text.

WRT 0220: Creative Writing Poetry
Prerequisite: None
Students write and discuss their own projects in poetry.
Offered every third year. (3 Credits)
WRT 0225: Creative Writing Playwriting
Prerequisite: None
A course for students to write an original play and then direct their own script.
Offered every third year. (3 Credits)
