Art Minor Requirements
The Undergraduate College: Traditional On Campus
The Undergraduate College Art program offers a minor that requires 24 credits (8 courses) available with the Major of your choice:
Minor Courses: 12 credits (4 courses).
Elective Courses: 12 credits (4 courses).
Under certain conditions, a student may have a minor field designated on their Rosemont transcript. Candidates for the minor must select 21-24 credits above the introductory level in a discipline. These courses are chosen from the Academic Offerings section of the catalog for approved minors. A minimum grade point average of 2.00 in the minor is required. Discuss with your advisor.
Art Minor Courses (12 Credits)
ARS 0100: Drawing I
Prerequisite: None
This course is an introduction to the basic techniques and exercises used in drawing. To develop and enhance perceptual and manual skills, direct observation of the subject and visual problem solving will be stressed. Students considering an art major take this course in the fall
semester of their first year.

ARS 0101: Visual Fundamentals I
Prerequisite: None
A foundation course intended to emphasize the basic principles of two-dimensional space; objective analysis; systems of experimental manipulation; problem solving; and consideration and use of materials. Students considering an art major should take this course in the fall
semester of their first year.
Offered fall/spring semester. (3 Credits)
ARS 0201: Visual Fundamentals II
Prerequisite: ARS 0101 Visual Fundamentals I
A continuation of Visual Fundamentals I, emphasizing the investigation of the physical and visual elements of three-dimensional form and structure. Safe use of hand and power tools and equipment will be stressed. Students considering an art major should take this course in the
spring semester of their first year.

ARS 0205: Painting I
Prerequisite: ARS 0100 Drawing I
The basic techniques of oil painting, its form and craft will be introduced using the human figure, still life, and landscape as subject. Students considering an art major should take this course in the spring semester of their first year.
