Why Study Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration at Rosemont?
Academic Practicum for Professional Experience
HESAA students serve as half time staff members, paired for 15-20 hours per week with a campus department while taking an academic practicum course. During this course, students create and update their LinkedIn profile, refine their resume and cover letter writing skills, and personally develop their professional brand.
In the HESAA program, students frequently collaborate directly with undergraduate students, offering a diverse array of practicum placement opportunities across campus. These opportunities span departments such as Student Success and Engagement, Diversity and Belonging, Athletics, Advising, Mission and Ministry, and Advancement, among others. Additional potential placements include Admissions, Career Services, Registrar, Residence Life, and Health and Wellness. Click here to apply!
At Rosemont, we prioritize student flexibility and growth. We understand that interests may evolve, so we never want students to feel constrained by their initial choice of graduate assistantship or practicum. Therefore, we offer the option to switch placements if another area suddenly captures your interest.
While maintaining a single practicum provides a deeper connection and mentored experience within a specific department, switching allows you to gain exposure to up to four different departments and supervisors. This not only enriches your educational experience but also provides an excellent opportunity to earn multiple letters of recommendation, enhancing your prospects for your Post Masters job search.
