Rosemont College’s accelerated double degree program offers the opportunity to earn two graduate degrees in only three years. The MFA in Creative Writing and the online MA in Publishing complement each other seamlessly. Through this program, students learn to successfully write and publish full-length works and/or individual pieces such as poems, essays, and short stories with major publishing houses or independent presses.
The fully online Publishing Program at Rosemont College provides educational opportunities that incorporate practical real world experiences, in-depth research, knowledge of current practices, and interaction with industry professionals. All faculty members are working publishing professionals who also prioritize student-centered instruction.

In a survey of recent alumni, we found that 94% of respondents were employed full time in publishing or a publishing related field after graduating from the program. Notably, students who interned during their time in the program were similarly employed at a 97% rate. Our program's professors are actively engaged in the publishing industry, offering practical expertise and valuable connections to relevant organizations. Over the years, our publishing students have participated in a variety of internships at esteemed companies such as Macmillan (NYC), Philadelphia Weekly, and Simon & Schuster, among others. Rosemont College Publishing alumni have achieved notable success, including winning or being nominated for prestigious literary prizes such as the Pushcart Prize and major awards such as the John Newbery Medal or the Shirley Jackson Award. Why Study Creative Writing and Publishing at Rosemont?
Students who complete Rosemont’s Double Degree program graduate with a full length creative work for their MFA in Creative Writing and a thesis project for their MA in Publishing. These projects often support each other.
Double Degree students still have the opportunity to intern, and students with Double Degrees have more opportunities to write, publish, and teach. Contact Admissions for information on how to apply for this special option.

Writer's Studio
Rosemont expands its literary community through non credit courses offered under the banner of the Rosemont Writer's Studio. These workshops, an integral part of Rosemont College's MFA Program, welcome MFA graduates from any institution as well as members of the vibrant Philadelphia writing community. They provide accessible avenues for focused writing and publishing education. Explore the Double Degree Path
The Graduate Creative Writing program at Rosemont College offers concentrations in poetry and prose. As a prose writer, students can further choose from concentrations in creative nonfiction, short fiction, writing for young adults, novel writing, and dramatic writing. Students can also choose to add an embedded Graduate Certificate in Novel Writing to the degree.
The Publishing MA enables students to choose an area of focus for their electives. These areas usually include digital, editorial, marketing and sales, or children’s publishing (including young adults).

The graduate certificate in Novel Writing at Rosemont College is designed to guide writers from initial idea to completion. It’s often said that as many as 90% of Americans believe they have a book inside them, yet as many as 97% of would be authors never finish their manuscript. Regardless of the statistics, the reality remains that writing a novel is a challenging endeavor to undertake alone. The Rosemont College MFA program offers aspiring novelists a proven opportunity to complete their novel through our Novel Writing Certificate Program.
