Rosemont College is sharing important Cold Blue Weather updates to keep our community informed and prepared. Montgomery County officials have extended the current Code Blue Weather Emergency through Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 9:00am.
As winter weather approaches this weekend, we want to share a few simple tips to help you stay safe in the event of a power outage. While outages are not guaranteed, being prepared can make a big difference. This storm is expected to significantly impact our region; key highlights are below:
The Montgomery County Commissioners issued this extension based on guidance from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and Office of Public Health. In addition, they reviewed forecasts from the National Weather Service before making this decision. The original Code Blue began on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 9:00pm and will be expanded to Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 9:00am.
During this Cold Blue Weather period, temperatures or wind chill values are expected to reach or fall below 32 degrees Fahrenheit for two or more hours. These conditions create serious risks for individuals without shelter.
A Code Blue is declared when winter weather poses a threat of serious harm or death to people who lack safe housing. As a result, emergency shelter resources remain available across Montgomery County.
What to Do During Cold Blue Weather
- Check on elderly friends and neighbors frequently to ensure that their homes are adequately heated.

- If you or someone you know needs help with temporary shelter from the cold weather or a longer term housing issue, call Your Way Home at 610.278.3522.
