Rosemont College proudly announces that acclaimed novelist Charles Holdefer will lead the 2026 International Writer’s Retreat and Publishing Seminar. This inspiring literary experience takes place from December 30, 2025, through January 10, 2026, in Siracusa, Sicily, and Naples, Italy. Hosted by Rosemont College’s MFA in Creative Writing and MA in Publishing programs, the retreat offers writers a remarkable opportunity to learn directly from one of today’s most respected voices in contemporary fiction.
About Charles Holdefer
Charles Holdefer is a Brussels based author known for his insight, imagination, and versatility. He has written six novels, including Don’t Look at Me (2022). His short fiction collections include Ivan the Terrible Goes on a Family Picnic (2024) and Dick Cheney in Shorts (2017). His novel The Contractor (2012) earned recognition as an American Booksellers Association “Book Sense Pick” and was translated into several languages.
Throughout his distinguished career, Charles Holdefer has built a reputation for excellence in both fiction and nonfiction. His stories have appeared in the New England Review, North American Review, and Chicago Quarterly Review. He also received a Pushcart Prize for short fiction. In addition to his writing, Holdefer serves as fiction editor of Exacting Clam magazine and contributes essays and reviews to numerous publications.
