Women’s History Month

We continue to celebrate Women’s History Month with images on the tv screen in the lobby of women who have made or are making significant contributions to the wider community. This week we honor Suzan Shown Harjo, a Native America woman now age 80 who has spent the last six decades advocating for justice for people of Native American tribes.

Five Luminous Women of God

See the photos in the Chapel of five extraordinary women who are being considered for sainthood in the Catholic Church. Taken together their lives spanned more than 200 years from 1784 – 1990. One was born in Cuba and immigrated with her family to the United States, while the other four were American born. Each, in her own way, stood against the inhumanity of racism in her time and place. You will find additional information on the women in the posters in the brochures in the chapel. The chapel is open from 6:00am to 9:00pm daily and from 10:00am – 6:00pm on weekends.

Annual Seder

We will hold our annual Seder on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:00pm in the Hirsh Community Center. Rabbi Eric Yanoff will be back to guide us through the special meal that Jewish families have during Passover. They relive the journey from slavery to freedom that is recounted in the Hebrew Scriptures. We remember former Dean Ethel Levenson during this evening. She led our Seder for many years and the Fund for Jewish Studies in her name supports a number of programs on our campus. All are invited. There is no charge. Register by emailing [email protected] by Friday, March 13th.

Sunday Mass

We will resume meeting for Mass at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church on March 15th at 11:15am in front of our Rosemont College chapel.

Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr

Ramadan continues through March 19th (learn more in the Cultural Heritage Gallery). Students observing the fast can see Lisa or one of the Dining Hall staff to make arrangements for their food.

The Prayer Room in the library is open during library hours. There are prayer rugs there for us during times of prayer.
