Become an RA!
Resident Assistants (RA) are student leaders who coordinate educational programs and fun activities. There is a Resident Assistant on duty every night to assist in monitoring the safety and security of the building.
There is an RA located on most floors of each residence hall. It is the responsibility of the RA to plan activities/programs that foster an atmosphere of community within the hall that will in turn enhance the lives of the residents. The RA is expected to be available to students and to encourage them to become an active member of the residence hall community.
In addition, the RA facilitates the development of a positive and safe living environment. The RA assists the Assistant Director of Residence Life or Residence Director in providing for the safety of each individual resident through specific procedures such as fire drills, incident reports, assigned duty days/weekends, and hall openings and closings.
How to become an RA:
RA selection occurs shortly after the start of the Spring Semester.
Applicants must be an enrolled, degree seeking, full-time student who is in good academic and judicial standing. Each candidate must have, at the time of application a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5.
This G.P.A. must be maintained while holding the RA position. The student must have lived on campus for at least one semester prior to selection.
Candidates must be available to attend all required selection process events. Unfortunately, if a student is unavailable (including those Studying Abroad) for any or all of the process they will not be able to apply.
