On October 24, 2025, Rosemont College hosted a meaningful Memorial Walk at Calvary Cemetery. Sponsored by the Rosegrow Environmental Coalition, the event celebrated the lives and legacies of cherished Rosemont luminaries who helped shape the college’s values, including trust in and reverence for the dignity of each person and care for the Earth as our common home.
A Thoughtful Tribute
During the Memorial Walk, participants visited the graves of many influential figures from Rosemont’s history. They placed bouquets made from marigolds grown in the Patrick Herman Garden on each gravesite. These flowers symbolized gratitude, remembrance, and the enduring impact of the college’s leaders. In addition, the walk provided a moment for reflection and connection to Rosemont’s rich history.
Student & Community Participation
Rosegrow students took a central role in preparing the memorial. They cultivated the marigolds throughout the summer and arranged them for placement during the walk. Their efforts added a personal and heartfelt touch. Moreover, Rosegrow members assisted by laying flowers and honoring the college’s luminaries. Together, their contributions created a serene and spiritual atmosphere throughout the cemetery.
Reflections & Future Plans
The Memorial Walk offered a moving and spiritual experience. Attendees expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to remember those who shaped Rosemont’s mission. Furthermore, the college plans to continue this tradition in December, when participants will lay wreaths and ornaments alongside the flowers. This event clearly highlights Rosemont’s commitment to community, memory, and service.
