Color Abstractions Inspired by Nature
Bill Scott is a painter and printmaker. His work glows with vibrant color and invites the viewer to reflect. He does not literally reproduce nature. Instead he reimagines its energy and shapes. His canvases teem with lush imagined flora and fauna. Each painting prompts a moment of discovery and wonder.
A Rich Exhibition Legacy
Since 2004, Bill Scott has held ten solo exhibitions at Hollis Taggart in New York. He has recently shown work at Somerville Manning Gallery in Wilmington. He also mounted a solo show at Cerulean Arts in Philadelphia. At Cerulean Arts, Scott organized multiple group exhibitions. Between 1989 and 1997, he held four solo shows at Prince Street Gallery. He later wrote the gallery’s fiftieth anniversary catalog essay and served as juror for its 2025 juried exhibition.

Scott studied figure and still life painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1974 to 1979. He credits informal periods working with Jane Piper and Joan Mitchell as his greatest source of inspiration.
