A Note From the Alumni Association Board President:
To all my fellow alum, Happy Spring – hoping that the longer days, buds bursting through our gardens and the approaching holiday are all lifting spirits and putting the winter of ’26 behind us.
There is much to report from campus. the Golden Rose luncheon will be held on May 1st, followed by May Day activities senior class is getting ready for graduation on May 14th. I had the pleasure of attending an event on March 25th which celebrated the Irish heritage at Rosemont, specifically the horses that were part of the early history on campus. For those of you that lived in Mayfield as I did Freshman year, who knew that it had once been the stable for the Sinnott family as they lived in what is now, Main Building. So many of the women who attended in the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s were riders. There was a photo shared at the presentation that showed the size of the Riding Club – it could have been a baseball team!!! At this same event, the students who traveled to Ireland during Spring break, all took part in presenting what the trip meant to them and what stood out of their many experiences.
It Got Me Thinking About 2 Questions:
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE ROSEMONT AND WHAT DID THE 4 YEARS GIVE BACK TO YOU?
I chose Rosemont for the size, the proximity to home, which for me was on Long Island – not too close or too far, for the curriculum, the proximity to Villanova and other colleges that would provide a great social life, and for the “spirit” I felt walking the campus with my dad on my visit. There was a friendly, collegial atmosphere that you could feel. I still feel it today when I am on campus.
In so many ways, we don’t know what our path will be – over the years the spirit of Rosemont was with me during times of joy, disruption, stress and reunion. Over the years, that spirit has brought me back to Rosemont as a steward of her legacy. We are entering uncharted territory when the Villanova merger takes place 7/2028. I have said this before, but WE are the legacy of Rosemont College – without our alumni there is no legacy! You will be hearing in the coming months of news on the transition that we are planning over the next 2 years and what the Rosemont Alumni Association will look like post merger. I hope that you will all join me in ensuring a smooth transition and help in any way you can. Rosemont needs to continue in all of us!
