On Saturday, March 22, students from Rosemont College’s chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) attended the regional ALPFA Student Symposium at Seton Hall University. Hosted by ALPFA NJ, the event provided valuable career development, networking, and leadership opportunities.
Representing Rosemont at the symposium were Isis Bryant, Madison Morton, Sean Rodriguez, and Lorenzo Jayakanthan. Each student gained unique insights from the experience, expanding their knowledge and professional skills.
Madison Morton, a sophomore studying criminology and psychology, and the event coordinator for Rosemont’s ALPFA chapter, reflected on the impact of the event. “I learned valuable insights about proper financial literacy and practical ways to develop the skill for myself,” she said.
She was particularly inspired by a speech from Damian Rivera, CEO of ALPFA, who stated, “’You are the dreams personified of those who came before you. Your ancestors put energy into you, knowing that you would be in a room like this, making an impact around the world.’”
“This was one of the most motivational things I have ever heard,” Morton added. “As a first-generation college student, I have always felt the drive to not just attend college, but to succeed. Damian’s speech reminded me that my success is not mine alone—it belongs to those who came before me, those around me, and those who will follow. Without the sacrifices of my loved ones, I would not be here today.”
The ALPFA Student Symposium brings together Latino students across all majors for a day of insight, mentorship, and professional development. Attendees gain a competitive edge in today’s job market by participating in interactive sessions focused on career planning, personal branding, and networking with top industry professionals.
