The biology department aims to provide biology students with a foundation in the biological sciences through the study of living organisms at the molecular, genetic, cellular, organismal and ecological level. Our graduates are prepared to undertake graduate study, professional training in the medical sciences and allied health fields, teaching at the secondary level, or employment in an industry concerned with the biological or environmental sciences.
Rapidly changing and always evolving, Biology is ever present in today’s society. Biology students here at Rosemont College will have the opportunity to choose between three tracks of study:
The biology major is intended to prepare students for careers in healthcare, research and development, education, environmental studies, graduate or medical school, and more. Students will graduate with an understanding of the foundations of biological concepts.
Courses include a laboratory component in which students will learn the latest technologies and methodologies that are currently used in a variety of fields.
An internship and on or off campus research is a required component to the major. Students are able to complete a major or minor in biology.
Rosemont College has 3 affiliation agreements with the following institutions: the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) for their DO program, the Drexel University College of Nursing ACE program and the USciences Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program.
